Image Information
See what is inside an image file. Check its pixel dimensions, format, file size and transparency, and for JPG photos view the camera details and whether location data is stored.
How to use
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device or drag it into the upload area.
- Read the file details, such as the format, file size and last modified date.
- Check the image details, such as the dimensions in pixels, megapixels, aspect ratio and transparency.
- For JPG photos, review the camera and EXIF section, including whether GPS location data is present.
What this tool shows
- File: name, size, detected format and last modified date.
- Image: dimensions after the orientation tag is applied, megapixels, aspect ratio, transparency, animation and PNG color mode.
- JPG EXIF: camera make and model, lens, software, date taken, exposure time, aperture, ISO and focal length.
- GPS: the tool tells you whether location data is present. It does not display the coordinates.
- This tool only reads information. It never changes your file.
Supported formats and limits
- Input: JPG, PNG and WebP images up to 25 MB.
- The format is detected from the contents of the file, not from its name.
- EXIF data is read from JPG files only. PNG and WebP files do not show camera data here.
- Many images have no EXIF data, because screenshots, edited images and files from messaging apps often have it removed.
Privacy
- Your image is read in your browser. It is not uploaded to a server.
- No account is required.
Troubleshooting
- If you see an error that the file is not a valid image, the contents are not JPG, PNG or WebP even if the file name says so.
- If the dimensions look swapped, the photo was probably taken in portrait mode and carries an orientation tag. The Stored size row shows the raw pixel size.
- If no EXIF data is found, the file was probably edited, exported or sent through an app that removes metadata.
- If the image does not open, try saving it again as a JPG, PNG or WebP file.
